Couples Therapy

Relationships can sometimes become difficult to navigate. You may find yourselves caught in recurring conflict, struggling to communicate, or feeling less connected than you once did.
Couples therapy can provide a space to slow these patterns down, better understand one another, and explore new ways of relating.
Understanding each other.
Strengthening your connection.
How can I tell if couples therapy might be right for us?
Couples therapy can be helpful at many different stages of a relationship. You may be navigating ongoing conflict or communication difficulties, preparing for marriage, adjusting to changes within your relationship, or working through challenges that have developed over time.
Couples therapy isn’t only for relationships in crisis. It can also be an opportunity to strengthen your connection, develop a deeper understanding of one another, and build a strong foundation for the relationship you want to create together.

Our work Together
I approach couples therapy with curiosity, compassion, and a commitment to understanding each partner’s experience. As a client-centered psychologist, I collaborate with both partners to understand your unique needs, strengths, and goals, while also attending to the relationship you share.
In couples therapy, the relationship itself becomes part of our focus.
We explore the patterns that develop between you, how you respond to one another, and what may be getting in the way of connection. Our work may involve improving communication, developing greater understanding, and creating new ways of relating to one another. The goal is to help you build a relationship that feels more connected, respectful, and fulfilling.
Therapy is shaped around you as a couple, including the cultural, relational, and life experiences that influence how you understand yourself, each other and your world.
Safety in Relationships
The safety of each person is an important part of deciding whether couples therapy is appropriate. If there is current domestic violence, coercive control, intimidation, or fear within the relationship, couples therapy may not be the right format for support. These concerns can be discussed confidentially so that appropriate options can be considered.
If you or your partner are experiencing domestic violence, threats, intimidation, or fear for your immediate safety, please seek support before beginning couples therapy. Your safety is the priority, and couples therapy may not be appropriate when there is an immediate risk of harm.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department.
